Reading FML comments and a lot of people say it is bad to wash your hair everyday. Though this isn't the first time I heard it. I can't stand the thought of not washing my hair everyday. It gets so greasy and yucky that I need to wash it once a day.

So what is the truth?

My opinion* is that it's not bad. Especially if your hair is oily.

*Based on some research and personal experience.

Taking advice from FML, not so good.

Been washing my hair every day for over 40 years and I still have most of it. :D

The hair dude on the "What not to wear" tv show says he only washes his hair once a month and uses some kind of product on it instead (I'd love to know what).

If your scalp gets dry like mine (from hot, hard, chlorinated water) you might try the Kheil's Swimmers Shampoo.

Not taking advice, but it is about the 5th time I have heard about this.

If your hair & scalp is dry then washing it everyday isn't great. However, most men do not need to worry about those things. Women will go a day without washing because it is good for the hair and scalp. Harsh shampoos will dry any scalp.

Nevertheless, whether you learned it from FML or not, you should be fine washing your hair once a day.

I used t wash my hair everyday until I started going to an actual hairdresser rather than just a barber. She told me that the constant washing was actually causing the dandruff I had, I found that if I left it for even one day I'd get really oily hair so i washed it everyday - that made it over-compensate and dry out badly.

Now I wash it twice, maybe three times a week (it's quite short) and both the oil and dandruff have gone.

All the girls I seem to know wash their hair every few days. I wash mine every time I shower because it can get greasy. Although if I leave it alone for a day then it takes a good shape in the morning, don't have to bother with gel or straighteners or anything like that.

When my hair is short (and I get it cut pretty damn short,) I can go a day or two without washing it without really worrying about it. But once it gets long enough to comb, it's pretty greasy if I don't wash it every day.

I was my hair 5 times a week.
any more often and becomes a dry mess
of course if I get sweaty I was it.
but with it being nearly to knee length, washing takes a while.

That makes my skin crawl to think about it.

Once a month? Why bother even then?

Daily washer over here. No problems.

Pics or it didn't happen.;) jk, that'd be neat to see though.

I used to wash it every other day to avoid the dryness but then I discovered conditioner. Now I wash it everyday and use a styling mud that smells like dill that my hair stylist gave me.

Once a day here, twice on weekdays when I work out. My hair does get a little dry sometimes, but I find using conditioner and this post-wash treatment called Remedee helps a lot.

When you use gel and work out regularly, it's hard to not wash your hair daily (or more).

Depends how you define "wash". If you rinse your hair out thoroughly without any product you still get most of the benefits of shampooing; massaging away dead skin, dirt and oil, and so forth. In that sense, I wash my hair twice per day, but I only use shampoo and conditioner maybe once per week.

My hair stylist tells me that several of her clients believe that washing their hair frequently is "bad" for it in some way. She told me that when she cuts their hair it stinks badly. Some wash their hair maybe twice a month.

I've always washed my hair once a day--twice if its the summer and I'm going out that evening.
