It's only a "non issue" if you let it be. basically you have three choices:
1. Deal with it and thus make it a non-issue.
2. Start flooding the stores and call centers with complaints and force them to address it.
3. Return it and use your 3g or another phone altogether (Thanks to dmelgar for pointing out this option.)
Notice that 'keep whining on forums' isn't an option since it won't resolve anything either way.
