it's possible to charge an iphone battery outside of the phone?

no, the phone is out of warranty thats why i'm trying to repair myself before put on ebay as faulty.
i guess if i was able to charge the battery i could start the phone again without problems but if it's not passing evergy to the battery will be impossible.
i already changed the dock connector but no luck, and the battery was new but never charged sucessfully
(the phone were under water)
