I find it so difficult to actually perform and update. I follow the intructions to a T and it's just a waste of time hoping it works only to find out it doesn't. I'm not sure how this was ever considered a good solution. As a result. I never updated them.
 
you just put the phones and the pods on charge close to each other and they do it automatically. not difficult at all, assuming you have no problems putting your devices on charge.

mine usually update within a few minutes. You can just leave your pods charging close to where you leave your phone charging overnight and you should be good in the morning.

if they don't update overnight, try resetting them.

Yea it's that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. And it's a trial and error system. Why they don't just put a notificaiton up and say install. Or one that says your airpods are updated with the lastest firmware
