I sometimes think it's very weird that Apple doesn't include some kind of a very basic case or at least a cover, for the iPad line.

I get people will likely upgrade to a higher quality cover or case, but really, it's supposed to be a mobile device, and surely warrants protection for the glass face, if not the scratchable back. It would be kind of like ordering eyeglasses from an optometry place and not getting a case for them of any sort. If it came with a simple, clear backcase, and a simple protective cover, I'd use it.

I mean really, does anyone NOT use a cover, if not a case, on their iPads? It should really be standard issue.

Do others? Not sure the majority do. But ultimately a covering is subjective. Some will already have a cover, others will want a keyboard or have a specific cover in mind and so on. Why include what will in effect be waste for so many that will ultimately not use it.

You make sound points that I will not rebuff.

Weird thing is Apple went all recyclable on us last year but iPad Air has a plug included in the box unlike the iPhone or watch lol

I don’t know what that’s all about really lol 😆

Has Apple ever included a case with any mobile device? Never that I can recall.

Has any tech industry do something similar? I think no.
it happens occasionally, but usually with oddly shaped or new form factor items. Many of the folding phones are coming with some sort of protective cases. Galaxy Fold and Surface Duo come to mind.

Apple watches used to come with protective storage cases.

For free??

Do you want to know the reason why they don't ship with one?

They don't have to, people will buy it anyway. (Myself included)
