I just updated to iTunes 10.5, now every time I plug my iPad it freezes. If I unplug it it goes back to normal. Is this happening to anybody else?

I tried reinstalling it and it didn't work. I wonder if every time I plug the ipad it tries to tap into the Apple server to check for updates.

I'm having the same problem. Music will keep playing but iTunes beach balls indefinitely. iOS 5 on the iPad.

Possible fix: just wait. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3371308

I had to wait maybe 5-10 mins and then iTunes unfroze and my iPad (original) showed up.

Unplugged after sync, replugged, and had the same problem but it only took about 30 seconds for iTunes to unfreeze. On a third try it took about 30 seconds again.

A few other details in case they relate to the problem: I have 45 GB of music and 7.5 GB of apps on the iPad, and interestingly, some TV shows I deleted a while back show up grayed out under TV Shows in the iPad source list (after clicking the disclosure triangle).
