I know it's only Q2 of October but I'm pretty stoked about the new iTunes. Anyone heard anything about when we can expect 10.8?

I'm pretty sure it'll be called iTunes 11, and I agree it looks amazing. Btw, it's W2 October. (Sorry, Grammar nazi :/)

Given that they simply gave us the month of October, don't be surprised if it drops on October 31st.

I highly doubt that it will be iTunes 11. The iTunes version generally relates to the OS X version, which would be 10.8 for Mountain Lion.
Last year, Apple said that iTunes Match would released October and it didn't become public until well into November. So, don't get your hopes up that a post-Steve-Jobs Apple will be as reliable as the one that he ran.

iTunes 10 was released in 2010. OS X in 2001.
It was 2 years from iTunes 4 to iTunes 5. Then only 5 weeks from 5 to 6.
The next version will get a whole new version, most likely iTunes 11.
iTunes 1 came out in 2001 for OS 9.
iTunes 2 supported OS X 10. So 2 through 10 have been OS X.
The next is going to be a BIG overhaul (rewrite maybe) so it will definitely be a new version number.
I wish Apple would give it a month in beta because it could be a bug bath when released.

Apple doesn't do public betas for iTunes - it's developed and tested internally. We don't know how long Apple has been testing it so there is no proof that there will be tons of bugs. We just don't know - the only time we have publicly seen anything was at the iPhone event.
The only pre-release versions of iTunes are really just for supporting iOS 6 developers and they never really include new features - they are not going to be like iTunes 11 - which is what they said it would be called.

I'm super ready for the new iTunes as well. I cleaned up my iTunes today in preparation for the release.

Yep. A simple Google search for iTunes 11 has the first result for the teaser page on Apple.com and under it says:
They pulled this same crap last year and it ended up coming out in mid November.

I know it's disappointing i was looking forward it. Hopefully because of this it will be relatively bug free.
I'm the kind of person who'd take a slightly buggy version over waiting an extra month.
Guess what? It's November 1st and there's still no iTunes 11. Seems a lot like iTunes Match coming out in "October" last year. I think that maybe Apple is operating under the assumption that October is synonymous with November. Assuming that it comes out in November, anyway.

Well they have announced that it's being delayed till the end of November, so that clears that up, and i'd rather they did that instead of us getting a buggy piece of ***** that loses all our music (Worst case scenario)
