How to add buttons back to the top:

500x_itunes_button_fix.jpg

In Terminal type:
Code:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes full-window -boolean YES

To change back, use the same code, but trade YES for NO

How to add color back to the icons:

1. Quit iTunes
2. Download the itunes10color.zip from here.
3. Right-click the iTunes icon and select "show in finder"
4. In Finder, right-click the iTunes icon again and select "Show package details"
5. Open "contents" and locate the "resources" folder.
6. Replace the file "iTunes.rsrc" with the one downloaded

Short version:
Replace /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources/iTunes.rsrc with the downloaded file

Both are confirmed to work on an Intel Mac running Snow Leopard

Does this also change the icons in iTunes preferences (because they're all gray too :( )

Edit: It doesn't. Would appreciate a fix for this too.

I am Happy now

Thank you Screwtape my life is relighted!!!! Ok i know it is just some icons in colors but i like it "In living color". (stole that from NBC):)

Still no color

I followed these instructions to the letter – three times – but still have gray icons in the iTunes 10 sidebar. I even logged out and logged back in, but still have no color icons. I also emptied the trash after replacing the iTunes.rsrc file. What could I be doing wrong? (I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.4.) Has this worked for everyone else?

The fix for making the red-yellow-green buttons horizontal again worked, though.

Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

Never mind ... I figured it out

It turns out one must have Source Text set to small in iTunes's Preferences. If it's set to large like I had it, this hack won't work.

Lion and iTunes 10.4

This no longer seems to work with Lion and iTunes 10.4. Error and authentication messages occur when I tried to replace the file. When I finally was able to do so, iTunes was messed up and essentially would not open. (See attached screenshot.)

Does anyone know if this iTunes.rsrc file can be modified to work with iTunes 10.4 and Lion? And does anyone know how to do it?

Thanks.
