There has been a bug in iTunes 11.4 that prevents 32 bit users running 10.6.8 from syncing any devices. the solution was to either live with it (on iOS 8) or go back to 11.3.1 (IOS 7). apple forgot to include 32 bit code. AFAIK. when syncing devices , the storage bar would go to YELLOW. your entire iPad or iPhone would be ""OTHER". restoring your iPhone would not work. and you could not backup or sync your device.
i do not know which group this belongs to, because it affects all iPhones, iPads and 32 bit macs. so i will post it here.
this bug has been fixed. apple has released a special version of iTunes 11.4 just for snow leopard (10.6.8)
