iTunes 12.0.1 not downloading?

The app store keeps saying I have an update for iTunes 12.0.1 however, when I click to update the application immediately after it says "installed." Then after a few seconds it says its available for an update and basically stuck in a loop. I've tried restarting my computer no luck. Any suggestions? thanks
