Up to version 12.1, iTunes worked more or less smoothly on my Macs, but the latest version is a disaster. My biggest complain is that iTunes has very noticeable delays and even freezes when I'm trying to upload music to my iPhone. There is a delay (with a spinning wheel) when I click on the "Add To" button, and another one when I select Artists, playlists and etc.
I found on the web that resetting sync services should help (by executing in the Terminal "defaults delete com.apple.SyncServer SyncServicesResetWorldRunOnce"), but it fixes the problem only temporarily. Next time I sync music with my iPhone it's the same story all over again.
Unlike on Windows, iTunes never used to be that laggy on OS X. What happened? It's extremely annoying.
Another big annoyance is that iTunes 12.1 now resets Search window when you change the view from Artists to Albums/Songs and etc. Why did they decide it was a good idea to wipe out everything in the Search window when switching between different views?
