iTunes (12.2) keeps freezing when I try and delete songs!

I'm cleaning up my iTunes library a bit. (I have iCloud turned OFF). Every time I try and delete songs or an album, I get the spinning wheel indefinitely .... ???

This also has been happening to me. It also occurs when I edit tags. iTunes does not respond for several minutes if I try to edit one track. If it edit several tracks, it freezes for 15-20 minutes (unless I force quit).
