Hi,

I'm running iTunes 12.6.5 on an iMac with High Sierra. I've been having trouble locally syncing my contacts to my iPhone (even though this setup worked previously on an old MBP). I've tried:
-re-importing a backup with a backup from my MBP (that was able to sync everything without problems)
-manually going into my user folder and deleting all the entries "Application Support / AddressBook" folder and then reimporting
-in each instance, checking the "Replace information on this iPhone" when syncing...

but iTunes still doesn't sync the contacts correctly.

For some reason, Calendars had the same problem initially (not showing all the different calendars and reminders), but I was somehow able to get it to show all my available calendars and selectively sync the calendars I want.

For contacts, I've gotten it to a point where it shows a portion of my groups, but not all of them. And unfortunately, any new contacts I add in a "recognized" group does not sync over to the iPhone.

Anybody else have this problem and was able to fix it?

Out of the blues mine stopped syncing properly now also. In the past there seemed to be an option when syncing an iPad or iPhone with MacBook Pro via iTunes to choose which info to use or it would sync and update with most recently updated contact for example but now say you updated the contact on your iPhone or iPad but not your MacBook Pro when you went to sync the iPhone or iPad with the MacBook Pro the stupid thing would sync with the old info and get rid of the new info without asking you which one you wish to use. Before at least it would tell you there was a conflict and ask you which one you wanted to use but now no.. WTF..?

I actually came across this solution: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8457607?page=1 that solved my problem (and it's unrelated to what version of iTunes are you using).

In short, check your contact entries to see if there are any stray "Related Names" entries that aren't supported. Namely, "son" and "daughter" needs to be reverted back to "child" in order to sync properly between iTunes and the devices. See if that fixes your problem as it did for me, otherwise, I'm not sure what to suggest though.

Thanks.. They do sync just not properly. They synced perfectly in the past for many years but out of the blues are not syncing properly any more. Devices have not changed either so it must be software related

I'm not sure how much help I can be, but I'm trying to understand your situation is it:

1) iPhone has an updated phone number versus your Mac, but during sync, the Mac info replaces the iPhone X phone number with the old one?

or

2) Changes on the Mac (either updates to the contact or adding/removing folks from a contact group) do not reflect back on to the iPhone after syncing - even when "delete and replace" is invoked.

or

3) something else?

Mine was situation #2 and it required reverting the Related Names section to "child" in order to update from Mac to iPhone.

In contacts there is a section in it for notes where one can add notes to it. Say I updated notes with new notes in my iPhone or iPad the synced with my MacBook. In the past it would always automatically update with the most recently updated device but now it just replaces info with MacBook and deletes recently updated info in iPhone or iPad

Okay, that's a different issue than what I had... so unfortunately I don't have any ideas on how to solve your problem.

Can anyone help here still having some issues and would like some help. Many thanks to all
