I have a new MacBook Pro running macOS Mohave 10.14.6 with iTunes 12.9.9.5.

Tried for the first time to attach my iPod to the lap book and transfer some music to the iPod, but it does not appear anywhere in the iTunes interface.

I can see it as a listed device using Finder, but even there I cannot see the music files and would not understand how to transfer music that way.

Does anyone know of a solution?

I found some program called iMusic that seems potentially helpful. Is it worth buying?

Got it fixed! Apple support had me turn off all open programs, shut down MacBook then power up in safe mode.

Then while still in safe mode I restarted and once live again I relaunched iTunes, attached iPod to MacBook and this time iTunes showed my iPod as a connected device.

You could also just use Waltr app (the first one) to sync all kind of song formats to any ipod /iphone / ipad product , in this way you avoid Apple/itunes updates.

The app works flawless and it's not expensive.

When iTunes on your computer does not recognize your connected device, you might see an unknown error or a "0xE" error. If you do, follow these steps and try to connect your device again after each step:

  1. Make sure that your iOS device is unlocked and on the Home screen.
  2. Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes that works with your computer.
  3. Check that you have the latest software on you Mac.
  4. Make sure that your device is turned on.
  5. If you see a Trust this Computer alert, unlock your device and tap Trust.
  6. Unplug all USB accessories from your computer except for your device. Try each USB port to see if one works. Then try a different Apple USB cable.
  7. Restart your iPod
