I got myself a new CD and loaded it onto iTunes 12 running on my iMac. But I can't get the tracks to copy from iTunes 12 to my iPod Touch 5. All the tracks I tried to copy are grayed out.

Why is this happening? I spent an hour trying to get it to copy and it will not do it. I tried creating play lists and copying that and that does not work either.

I'm scared to death of the automatic syncing because ever time I tried it it always deleted stuff I did not want deleted. So, I always do a manual copy by drag and drop. But it no longer works. The previous CD I was able to copy just fine with iTunes 11 but not iTunes 12.

Very, very frustrating.

I also looked for alternatives to iTunes but they will not do what I want. All I want to do is copy my new CDs and audio book to my iPod Touch 5 and nothing seems to be able to do it anymore.

Any suggestions on what to do?

Note I do not buy music on line, because what I like to listen to usually isn't available, so please don't give me that as an option.
