iTunes 7.0.2.16 not playing or importing an inserted cd.

Has anyone experienced this issue before?

When I insert a Audio CD into my PC, and try to listen to it with iTunes, it does not play. What ends up happening is the cursor flashes on each song for about two seconds and then moves to the next. It will go through the entire CD, and then stop. The same thing happens if I try to import the Audio from the CD.

Has anyone experienced this and fixed the issue without doing a remove/reinstall of iTunes?

Does this happen with every/one CD? Commercial CD's? Burned CD's?

This happens with both burned as well as commercial.

I just tried a CD with data in the mp3 form and received the same response. I do not have a DVD at the moment to try.

Did you try opening the files in the finder. I'm just trying to confirm that this is hardware and not a software issue.

Yes the files do open in Explorer. I am also able to play the CD's with Media Player and Nero, just not iTunes.

Ok, so I went ahead and removed iTunes from my PC, and reinstalled the newest version from the apple site. (7.1.1.5)

I am still experiencing the same issue.

If anyone has had this issue, any thoughts would be helpful.
