iTunes 7.2 has a great new feature I find extremely useful!

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but as its early days I didn't think it would have.

I discovered today that if you have the new iTunes 7.2, you can convert to AAC in 256kbps instead of the old 128kbps! I found this amazingly awesome for converting favourite tracks of mine, whilst ones I'm not that fussed over can stay 128kbps.

Since the new update, I have rediscovered my library because I now know how much better a doubled bitrate sounds!

Just wondered if any of you have found this out?

yeah... i think that was a feature of iTunes 1 as well (at least with MP3; AAC wasn't around then)

Couldn't you rip the CDs at 256kbps before??? or are you converting 128kbps files on your computer, if so there is no improvement.

I'm converting existing files on my computer. Before, I thought you could only convert to AAC at 128k.

You will not gain back any quality, that isn't in the original file you will just make the file larger. unless you are converting from a higher bitrate in another format.

You realise that you can have any bitrate you like with iTunes Preferences==>Advanced==>Importing==>Setting==>Custom?
