I downloaded iTunes 7.3 at work on a PC and then at home on my Mac. In the iPhone preferences tab in Windows it has something like 'warn me if more than 5% of the data has changed' or something, but it's not there in OS X. Any idea why?

I wondered why there was this difference, surely users on both sides will want to be warned. May on OS X it is present as an option in te iPhone screen inside iTunes when you connect the iPhone.

It might have something to do with the fact that iTunes Mac uses SyncServices (the same service iSync uses) to do syncing. It may also be that, much as iPhoto respects Image Capture's setting for what happens when a camera is inserted, iSync controls the setting from its preferences on Macs:

Apple does this in a number of places (e.g. Safari controls the default browser, some settings are controlled by Quicktime Player, Image Capture, etc). I don't find it to be the most transparent way of doing things....
