Somewhere over the rainbow
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but when I saw the iTunes 7 release, I automatically went to the software updater in the Apple menu, and thought it would fine the new iTunes. It doesn't, so I've downloaded it from the Apple site. But I'm hesitant to install it, before I know why software update didn't find it.

I realise it's a completely new release, being a new number and all, but since iTunes is free, why can't software updater find it??

This message is a couple hours old now, so maybe you don't need it answered. Anyway (as is usual), iTunes was on Apple.com before it showed up in Software Update. It is in Software Update now though. There is no drawback to installing it from the standalone download however.

Thanks. I've never tried to update a program that soon after a new release, I didn't realise that it takes a while to show up on software update.
