iTunes 8 embeds EQ?

Has anyone noticed that iTunes 8 now has a sound colorization in the mid-range section? Playing back a AIFF 44.1khz/16-bit file in iTunes sounds different than playing it in Quicktime, so I'm assuming they embedded a little boost in the 2Khz to 3.5Khz frequency range in iTunes and didn't tell us? I don't like that one bit, as I really know my system. Anyone else notice this?
