iTunes 9 driving my NAS insane

I'm running iTunes 9 on a MacBook Pro with my iTunes library located on a LaCie Ethernet Disk Mini NAS device. If I leave iTunes idle for 15 minutes or so, the fans on the LaCie NAS start spinning like mad. As soon as I close iTunes, it stops. Has anyone else experienced something like this?
