after installing itunes 9, and doing a fresh install of iphone 3.1.2 fw, the sync app box under app tabs is checked off. i like to manually manage all iphone content. when i uncheck it warns that all apps will be erased from my iphone. IS there ANYway to manually manage apps? like you do when drag n drop music?

Check the box, that allows you to sync apps in general. There should then be a list of all your apps toe the left, and a representation of your iPhone's screen on the right.
You can check the apps you want and uncheck the ones you don't on the left list.
