my 8 y-o is getting an ipadmini this year and i want to set up his own iTunes account which i will run for him - i don't want him using my iTunes!

is there a way to do this - can't see a viable solution without entering a false birth date. going to have a mucho grumpy kid on xmas day if i can't find a solution!

i'm in the uk, if that makes a difference.

I've never had to set up an iTunes account for someone underage, but you might be able to if you set it up as an "allowance" account. Theres an option to create a new Apple ID for the recipient of the "allowance"

See Step 5 at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2105

Just make it using your details. I did that for my brother. The birthdate doesn't really matter, as parental restrictions are done on a per device basis. When he sends me an iMessage, it still comes as his name, as that'a how the device is setup.

It has been illegal since 1998 for any company to ask for things like name, age, birthday, address, and phone number of those under 13. So using parent's information is the only way around this.
