iTunes acting up when in the background

When I have iTunes in the background (ie, I'm in Safari or whatever) I use to be able to click on the "next" or any button. Now when I do this it acts as a double click, skipping the next song or making me go back to the previous song when I just wanted to get to the beginning. However, if I have iTunes as the active application, it does not do this.

This started with the update to Leopard. I'm using a powerbook G4 (1.5 GHz). Any suggestions?
