I've ripped a slew of discs to an external drive that I'm adding to iTunes (Windows v7.2.0.35) using "Add Folder to Library". I'm not "copying to iTunes Music folder" nor "keeping iTunes music folder organized" (I have a Sonos that also needs access to it, and I like my folder and filenames).

On about 5% of 1200+ albums, iTunes imports the trackname incorrectly (it happens to be the actual filename). For example, Andrew Birds Armchair Apocrypha track "The Supine" is imported with track name "Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocrypha - 08 - The Supine", and I've confirmed it is stored this way in "iTunes Music Library.xml". Then if I "Get Info" on the file (and then click Cancel), it is changed to the track name in the ID3 tag ("The Supine"), and "iTunes Music Library.xml" is updated as well.

There is clearly something different about the ID3 tags on the albums for which it is happening, but I can't figure it out. I use ID3TagIt, and can see the v1.1 and v2.3 tags. The only thing I can image is that these files have a v2.2 or v2.4 tag I can't see that has this wierd trackname, but I don't even know if multiple v2.x tags can coexist in the same file.

Anybody got any ideas? Thanks for the help! Ben
