Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I'm having a major issue.

Just received my new rMBP and I'm trying to add all of my music to iTunes. For some reason, it's making each album a playlist! I have over 9000 songs, so imagine the list of playlists it's trying to make.

I've never, ever had this happen with iTunes. I select "Add to Library", select my music folder, and it starts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Wow, I've never, ever heard of that behavior. Did you try to shut iTunes down and then restart?

Also, rather than using "Add to Library", you can try dragging your music folder into the Library section of the left-hand pane in iTunes.

These are the only things I can think to try, except for a reboot.

Try just dropping the folder containing the music over iTunes and see what happens. That is how I always added music to my Library.

That is very strange. I have never had that happen. Do your album folders contain a playlist file? If so that will add a play list for each album I believe.

no .m3u files in the directories?
iTunes used to ignore these, now it uses them to make playlists when you import them.

any results in this?

i am having a similar problem.

i recent added a SDD to my MBP and did a fresh install on OS X.
i kept my original HDD and place it in the Superdrive.

so when i went to itunes, it was empty and i tried to add the files on my HDD to itunes and it created all kinds of folders and also changed the name of many files, not to mention the albumart was all gone too.
