Itunes and a 5th gen ipod

i was helping out a friend today at work. She has the lastest version MB and a 5th g 30gb ipod. Her Mac is new and i was reformatting the ipod. everything was going well when we were re-syncing her library of about 2025 song. but somewhere near the 1000 or so, it consistantly says that the device has been disconnected improperly and unmounts...not syncing anything. Currently the MB is running on battery power (not sure if that has anything to do with this) please help.

ok everyone, no need to answer this one. I reset the PRAM and repaired permissions and 1 or the combo of both did the trick. looks like they never did that before and had it for months.

Just an FYI: this particular worry is irrelevant as the iPod draws power through the USB connection.
