iTunes and appstore see no updates

iTunes and appstore say there are no updates to any of my apps(via iPhone)?

even though I check some manually and I see there are updates.

What could be the underlying cause?

Seeing the same thing

Not sure what the cause is, but I am also seeing this happen. This morning I showed 7 updates being available. Then in a matter of seconds they all disappeared. I have checked periodically, and they haven't shown up again. The few I checked appeared to be real updates. I have no idea what the issue is with their servers, as this seems to be a sporadic issue.
