As a preface, I offloaded my music to an external HD because the HD space on my MBP was getting a bit low. Worked well for some time. The only little caveat was I wasn't able to listen to music unless my external HD was plugged in. No big deal.
Fast forward to a couple days ago when I unplugged my external HD without first ejecting it. It *appeared* I had fubar'd the data on the external HD because when I plugged it back in a got an error message indicating that the disc was unreadable and would need to be initialized. However, after killing the power to the external HD and powering it back up again, my data (including my music folder) is all intact.
However, whilst in the midst of this mess I changed the folder I wanted iTunes to use to locate my music and I repopulated iTunes based on this folder. Now that I have my external HD back up and running I want iTunes to use *the original* folder but for whatever reason, I can't seem to get it to work. Eh....maybe it *is* working but it looks so much different. For instance, prior to my external HD woes, when I fired up iTunes it would show my movies including those I have purchased through ITMS. I also had a sub-category on the left labeled "Purchased Songs." Now, my movies don't show up and there is no "Purchased Songs" sub-category which leads me to believe that iTunes is not searching the right folder I am telling it to.
I hope this all makes sense. I simply want iTunes to look like it did before all of this happened.
BTW.....here is how I tell iTunes which folder to use as my library. What am I missing? Thanks in advance!
One last thing for whatever it's worth. The directory I am using happens to be on my Time Machine backup drive but it is *not* an actual Time Machine backup. I simply have Music folder on the same HD.
