Quick question... let's say I set up my Vudu/Flixter account to redeem UltraViolet codes and then link that to my MoviesAnywhere app... will that also link the UV movies into my iTunes library? I thought I heard that was possible but not sure.

Thanks!

Yes, as long as they are from one of the studios that support MA. Paramount, Lionsgate, MGM and some smaller studios currently don't. And they don't necessarily have to be UV movies (more and more movies on Vudu are MA but not UV anymore). Before you redeem, check on Vudu's web site if the movie has the MA logo to be sure.

Flixster doesn't redeem movies anymore (in the US).
Will iTunes automatically update them to 4K if they were UltraViolet codes?
No, HD movies that are transferred to iTunes through MA will not be upgraded to 4K. Only if a movie redeems in UHD on Vudu (i.e. it's from a UHD Blu-ray and Vudu has the movie in UHD) will it transfer to iTunes in UHD. Generally, only HD movies that are purchased or redeemed directly through iTunes can be upgraded to 4K.

Can I still redeem an iTunes code directly in iTunes for a film already part of my Vudu collection, and therefore appearing in my iTunes library via MoviesAnywhere?

For example, I have regular HD copies of Vudu films, that I want to upgrade to 4K in iTunes.

If you have the movie in VUDU in HD, but itunes has the move in 4K it will automatically be upgraded in itunes.

It is about time they all play nicely. It is one of the reason I did not use the ATV previously. All of my movies were redeemed in VUDU.

That isn't how it works in my experience. Codes for HD movies redeemed in Vudu do not get 4K updates in iTunes. For example, I have Baby Driver in Vudu but if I watch it in iTunes it plays back in HD not 4K.

the post above by @Rigby covered this - it has to be a 4K code redeemed in VUDU. If you want it in iTunes in 4K, you'll need to remove it from VUDU/UV and the redeem your iTunes codes directly in iTunes

This was the best thing to find when I switched from the Disney app to the Anywhere app. I had saved a bunch of non itunes code over the last couple of years in the hopes it might work out and there would be an app to go with the apple tv, this was far better than I had hoped for.

So if I remove it from my Vudu library (didn't even know you could do that!) it will disappear from iTunes? I'm thinking of just trying to enter the iTunes code and seeing if it overrides it.

For anyone else wondering, you can remove them from your UV collection library, they then disappear from Vudu.

Hmm interesting. I have the edge of tomorrow, not redeemed in 4K on VUDU, and iTunes upgraded it to UHD
