We now have the redesign and unification of their OS across all devices, bringing in the “Liquid Glass” aesthetic and introducing a wide array of visual and UI changes across the board. For the most part I am really liking the changes and updates.
The one main thing that is bothering me are the controls for the new iTunes app on desktop, and the music app on iOS. The main area that shows you what track you are on, forward and backwards controls, volume, etc. The control center. It has been at the top on desktop since it’s inception I believe. Now they have it on the bottom, floating with the liquid glass effect. It doesn’t stand out. It’s awkward. And as far as I can tell I haven’t found a way to revert back to the “classic” look if you will. They include that for instance with their newer versions of the Mail app and now the Messages app.
This was a big miss for me as far as UI goes. I fully admit that I am older (53) so this could very well be me yelling at clouds and I accept that. Having to retrain my brain from going to the top of the window instead of the bottom to do the basic tasks of the app is obviously tripping me up as I am fighting years of habit.
At the very least they should allow users the ability to control the transparency of these elements to increase the visibility of these controls. Or it would be nice if they added an option to drag this module anywhere within the main window to reposition it where it works best for the user. If you are going to make it a floating control center then commit to it and let users conrtrol the position of it. Generally speaking there is less visual clutter at the top of the window than there is at the bottom.
Anyone uave any thoughts on this? Am I alone?
