So, I had the boring and monotonous task of going through my iTunes folder to delete a lot of doubled files that were not in my library but I knew were in the folders. To my surprise I found a lot of empty folders that were named after cds that I had the names changed for in iTunes (for the sake of unifying artists, composers and what not.) The music that was originally on those folders was moved to a new folder with the new name of the cd. After deleting most of those folders I ran Time Machine to ensure that I had a fresh image of my iTunes folder.

That same night I came home to sync my iPod and to recharge it and to my surprise I found out that a lot of my music was missing from the library. iTunes screamed at me that couldn't find at least 200 songs. I knew all the music and files was in the right place because I went through ALL my folders earlier. SO, I double checked that me files where there and started the process of "re routing" iTunes to the proper place.

So, my question is this: could this be a major bug in iTunes, pointing to old empty folders while still playing the files from other, totally different folder?
I made sure that the paths were correct on iTunes and I found out that some of the songs were pointing to the old folder and some others to the new and either song would play just fine.

Has anyone out there seen something like this? I'm sure not a lot of people would actually go to the iTunes folder and make sure everything is in perfect order.
