Hi,

As I am about submit my app with Xcode 4.3 and I was wondering about the size. If I export an .ipa with my Ad-Hoc Distribution certificate, my app weighs in at 20.8 mb. Would this change when I submit to iTunes? I remember hearing that apple further compresses the ipa size(~4mb).

Thanks,
Ahan

If I remember correctly, it's the other way around. Apple encrypts the file for DRM purposes and recompresses it. I think they added about 2MB to my apps.

In Xcode 4.3 when you archive it, it tells you the estimated AppStore size. For a picture book I was working on it was 18.3 MB for the .ipa file, but the estimated AppStore size was 38MB.

That size is incorrect. My app's ipa was 5.9 mb and Xcode's App Store size was 11.7 mb. Finally, on the app store it is 5.9 mb.

Interesting, thanks for your reply ahan.tm, it will be interesting what size it is once we release this app to the AppStore.
