General iTunes App Sync w/ iOS 9 Device

Since updated apps on iOS 9 devices will no longer transfer over to iTunes (basically rendering sync with the computer obsolete for me), I've removed all locally stored apps from iTunes to save disk space. If I now sync my iOS 9 device with iTunes that has no apps, will iTunes still erase apps from my device? Thanks.
 
They must also disable music and movies syncing from iTunes and give it a quick halal death.
