Is there any way to display the separate cover art for TV episodes in iTunes and Apple TV? For example, I like to keep my kid's shows like SpongeBob under TV Shows, but I want Apple TV to recognize the individual cover arts that I have assigned. They show up fine in iTunes, but for some reason ATV just picks one within a show and applies it to all. Is there any way around this? My only fix is that I have to store them as movies, with their own genre, but I really don't want to see them in movies.

yes I have exactly the same problem and would be grateful if anyone can solve this.
Thanks for the genre tip, although I'm not too keen to do that.
My children also like looking through the pictures to choose an episode to watch-not as fun if the picture is the same for the whole tv show

My guess is that iTunes does the same thing it does for album art. It displays whatever artwork is stored in the first track that has artwork. I'm only guessing, since I don't use iTunes for movies and TV shows anymore. I prefer using Plex, which handles more file types than iTunes and automatically downloads artwork and metadata, and has a much nicer interface for browsing and playing video content. It will also allow you to add custom artwork for any movie, TV show or episode.

Thanks for the replies. I used Plex on my MacBook. Didn't care for the ease of use so I switched to Boxee on the MacBook. That gave me many problems as well, so finally I went to Apple TV. If you can get past the file conversion part, it's awesome! I just use batch software (a batch plugin for Handbrake) to convert a bunch at a time. Then you're set for ATV, iPod, iPhone, iPad, everything!

Anybody else figure out a way around this cover art problem?

This problem is even more annoying knowing that it used to work. I can't remember exactly when that was, but this was discussed before, and with one of the updates it worked, but with another one it stopped working

So please Apple fix this!

I organize some movies within TV Shows, this is the only way to group movies, unfortunately. So to have the same artwork for all movies within a 'group' / TV Show is rather silly.

Im sure you could do this by treating each episode as it's own season. Then use a playlist folder to group the season. That would give you an extra layer of menu clicks to browse your TV shows. I have been using playlist folders with smart playlist nestled inside them on all of my movies and TV shows and this has made browsing my collection much better. You just have to accept those few extra menu clicks to get to the playlist submenu.
