Hello,

I am trying to backup my iPad to my Mac using itunes, which I have done many times before with no issue. However I have a new hard drive on my mac so I am doing a fresh backup and the itunes backup seems to start and then the progress bar and device button on itunes disappears. Despite this the ipad still shows the syncing symbol but I don’t believe anything is happening. It also still shows battery charging. I can quit itunes without any warning and mac storage is not changing so it appears that the backup is indeed not occurring. I quit itunes and unplugged the cable and replugged in and it automatically opens itunes the device button appears but is greyed out and an error message pops up saying ”The iPad Pro cannot be synced because it cannot be found.” I have tried multiple macs but the same issue occurs.

I have also rebooted the ipad and the mac but the issue remains. I can backup my iPhone which is on the same iOS version as the iPadOS. I have tried resetting all settings but this did not fix the issue either. I have spent many hours with no luck. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.
