i noticed this as well. i thought mine got hung up and froze, but left it there on the "waiting for changes to reconcile" screen for about 30 minutes, then it started moving music over.

anyone having a problem when connecting your iPhone? It says set up your iPhone and won't let me sync without either setting up a new phone or restoring from backup

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A5288d Safari/7534.48.3)

Yep, I had the same issues it seems very odd but however I did restore it and so far it seems fine besides apps and music being slow.

I've backed up in iCloud but I have NO idea what is being backed up. All my photos aren't even on my phone (although phoneview says they are on there) so I don't know if they are being backed up
icloud backup does not backup everything you will need to sync your pics and music again

I just did an "erase content and settings" on my 3GS and then restored from the cloud and there they were.
Either the "erase content" didn't erase them or else they really were restored from the cloud.
Music and videos were gone but the books were there.
