If I bought an iTunes gift card that is in pounds. Can I apply it to a US iTunes account?

No you can't. You can only redeem iTunes gift cards in the same country's App Store. For example, if you buy an iTunes gift card in Canada, you can only redeem it in a Canadian App Store.

That sucks!!

Pounds don't spend in the United States, why should a UK iTunes gift card ?

No need to be sassy. Because ex pats like myself have family still in England who know I love apple stuff but obviously don't want to send straight cash and are adverse against money wiring. Jeez, apple robot out in force. Amazon allows multinational accounts and its a shame (but totally understandable because of music licensing) that apple don't.
