Since getting my iMac I've been running Mediamonkey through VMWare Fusion but it's not ideal and if I can get similar functionality using scripts I'll move to iTunes.

I have my music organised into root directories - albums, singles, mixes etc. On Mediamonkey you can browse by folder so I can view just my albums directory and not get loads of random single tracks mixed in with albums.

How can I achieve something similar in iTunes?

You can't really ... iTunes is designed to manage all the directories as one library.

Is there not a script for it?

Smart playlists would work if you could use 'folder' matches...

That's why I keep on hoping for a tagging system like iPhoto has. Right now, all you could do is add a short line to the comments like "format:album", or "format:single" and smart folder them.
