iTunes burning w/nonsupported burner

Is there a way to add support for a non-supported burner to iTunes? I had an external LaCie D2 with a Lite-On mechanism that kicked the bucket after waranty, so I replaced the mechanism with a Memorex 52x32x52 that isn't compatible. Is there some third party work arround, or is there a way that I could somewhat directly ask Apple to add support for my burner in an update to iTunes? I'd like to be able to listen to my purchased music in the car and I can't because my burner isn't supported.

Found it, downloaded it, and installed it. Gotta restart to see if it works.

Well, iTunes recognizes the drive, so I figure it should work. Thanks
