I did a quick search for this topic and found one thread that did not yield much information. There may be other threads related to this topic... if so, I apologize in advance.
Everytime I burn cd's using iTunes (whether they be iTunes store purchased or otherwise) the first few tracks are fine but around the middle of the disc the tracks begin to skip. Some of the previous advice I've seen has been to use Toast (which I would have to buy), try different cd's (which I dont have), or burn at a slower speed. Burning at a slower speed DOES seem to solve the problem (using Sony CD-R 700mb) thankfully. However, I am still curious as to why the first few tracks would work and only the middle-to-end tracks have problems. It would make sense that there isn't an issue with the TYPE of cd but that it would be a hardware issue??? I am not very "tech savvy" and if anyone might be able to answer this question I would appreciate it. I dont mind burning at a slower speed, I just want to know why when I DO burn at the maximum speed that it works for only a portion of the burn.

Update: So I lied... I just burned a disc at maximum speed and it didnt work. I burned one at x4 and it did work. So I burned another at x4 and it skipped. It's pretty inconsistent. Maybe I'll have to try another brand. It STILL makes no sense that the first few tracks work just fine though.
