"Itunes could not connect to the itunes store.
The host is down.
Make sure your network connection is active and try again"

I know this topic has been discussed more than Global Warming... but the solution is not working for me

In my windows side of the computer... the Itunes 10.6.1 connects to the itunes store... but not my Iphone 3g...
In the mac side of the computer... the Itunes 10.6.1 recognizes the iphone... but gives me the above error msg.
In both cases... I am unable to SYNC or connect to itunes.... or UPDATE.. or RESTORE...

Another thing I noticed is that.. ... I am able to browse my iphone with DISK-Aid.... which allows me to move 'some' stuff out of the iphone to my mac... and thats about it

Things I have tried so far ........ still getting same error as above...
1. Delete com.apple.itunes.plist
2. Turn off firewall... and let itunes connect to store
3. Add a new location in Sys prefs > Network >
In System preferences > Network > I made a new location ... Now the STATUS is ON.... but not CONNECTED ... because of no ip address is assigned to this location.. and i dont know how to assign ip address.. and stuff
4. Update itunes and OSX software... and reboot mac

Plzz help... i'd really appreciate any suggestions
