About a week ago, I copied my iTunes music folder from my MBP to my new Mac Mini.
I noticed that much of the tagging I'd done had been lost, so I went through and edited many tags.
I then noticed that I'd lost my playlists -- and in my investigations, I learned that I should have copied the iTunes library.itl and library.xml files with my music folder.
I then copied over the old library.itl and library.xml files from my mbp. This did get my playlists back.
However, I now keep getting messages that iTunes can't locate 2,000 or so music files. Even though they are all in the iTunes music folder. I assume that in transferring the iTunes .itl and .xml files, I screwed up the associates between the links and the music files?
When I try to play one of the "missing" files, I can follow the prompts to locate the file in my iTunes library and double-click it. All is good.
But do I need to go through that one by one with over 2000 files?
