Hello all,
Ever since I upgraded iTunes to 9.0 (and the .1 update), my system has been stuttering (every 5-10 seconds the mouse pointer freezes then "catches up," system lags noticeably). I ran through some trial-and-error diagnostics, rebooting, testing, running one program, testing, etc. until I isolated the stutter - it only occurs when iTunes in running. Turn iTunes on/off, problem starts/stops. Has anyone come across anything similar? I noticed some similar symptoms when people ran the dashboard, but I don't know if the root causes are the same. The solution definitely isn't: I'm not running dashboard.
Thanks in advance for any insights / help.
- Using iTunes 9.0.1 on OSX 10.6.1
- 100GB of music, 90% on MBP HDD, 10% on 7200rpm external connected through 1394b
- ~200GB of m4vs on 7200rpm external HDD, connected through 1394b (same as above)
- One other external HDD piggybacked onto the media storage via 1394a
- The problem persists after I unmount the external drives, so I'm guessing it's not the drives (they've never caused problems in the past)
- The problem persists whether iTunes is playing media or not
- In does not affect music playback. I've noticed some lag during movie playback
Fun stuff!
