I'm sorry if this has been discussed before - it's really hard to find a thread with this specific problem:

I have iTunes open most of the time (not playing, just open). Sometimes when I switch to it my computer starts to become very unresponsive. The mouse freezes for 30 seconds and then I can move it for 10 seconds and then it freezes again and so on...
Usually I can't even reboot so I have to hold the power button for 5 secs. In some rare instances I managed to quit iTunes, but it doesn't help much.
I'm running Leopard with all updates installed. The problem started when I was using 7.6 and it also appears with 7.7 installed.

Has someone had a similar problem? I would really appreciate any help.
