Hey everyone,

Have a bit of an issue with iTunes. "It just works", yeah right.

Basically, I've set iTunes so that my media is in my external hard drive.
Trouble is, when my external hard drive isn't connected to my Mac, iTunes automatically changes the media location to the default home location. Then my media ends up all over the place if I don't realise this!

Is there any way of preventing iTunes from doing this, instead perhaps displaying an error message until the media location is found or changed?

Thanks,

God bless,
Andy.

Yes. Always make sure your external drive is mounted before you launch iTunes.

As stated above, thats the only way to stop it. Do you use a wireless router? If so, does it have a USB port? You could mount the Ex HD wirelessly, and leave it as such so that you never would the situation. Unfortunately you'll be limited to the transfer speed of that USB port on router or wireless speed, whichever is slowest.
