itunes compilation automatically chooses album art for every compilation made

I somehow clicked something or other that causes:
every time i make a new compilation there is somehow some default artwork that gets applied automatically, and I can't get change it.
The artwork that is applied is artwork that I previously applied to a set of songs, but in no way intended it to be the art work for EVERY compilation. help?
