I am trying to update my iphone application. I connect to itunes connect and under Version Information, it says "Waiting For Upload". But there is no option to upload the files...

Not from itunes connect. From within Xcode do a Build&Archive, then from the organizer window that opens, share the archive.

More details are in the developers guide

I just did mine on Saturday, so I'll try to go from memory...

In Xcode, you need to switch your run device to Distribution (or whatever you called it) - iOS Device. Then I think you select Build -> Archive, and then you'll be able to validate and distribute (upload) your app. But you can only do this when your app is in "Waiting for upload" state on iTunes Connect, which you said it is so you should be fine.

Also mine got approved and ready for sale today (Wednesday). I was surprised how fast that was... I figured they'd be slammed with updates.
