For the last couple of weeks I've been having a problem where iTunes seems to be constantly trying to connect to my iPad, which is locked, so every 30 minutes or so I get a 'iTunes couldn't connect to the iPad "XXXX" as it is locked with a passcode' message which I have to dismiss - and these messages stack so every morning I have to click 'Cancel' multiple times to clear it.

My iPad isn't physically connected to the computer at this time, and in most cases isn't even plugged in to a charger. If it's just trying to sync, this shouldn't require the iPad to be unlocked, so can anyone suggest why it's doing this?

Thanks,

Neil

I have had the exact same experience. Only the iPad demonstrated this (the iPhone doesn't seem to).

I think I have solved it by going into ~/Library/Preferences looking for everything to do with iTunes and throwing them all away (with iTunes not running of course). iTunes was reset and no longer knows about the iPad (or iPhone, but that doesn't matter - it's not hard to plug it back in and reset the connection). Window size reverted to default along with some other things - nothing that was a problem though.
