Ive just filled out the W-8BEN and emailed it to apple, and my paid applications-contract, and its current status is "Setup in process".

Just now I see another box appear, though, saying "Request Amendments: Select the amendments which you would like to receive", with a checkbox and a submit-button.

It has the following content:
Request Amendment - [checkbox]
Contract Region - All (See contract)
Contract Type - Paid application
Legal Entity Name - [My name]
Legal Entity Address - [My adress]

What is this? My googling has resulted in nothing.

I'm in the same situation as you. I submitted my W-8BEN online 2 days ago, and posted the hard copy yesterday.

I don't think it's anything to do with that though. I Googled it and it looks like it's actually to do with the addition of extra countries, mentioned in yesterdays presentation.

That could explain the lack of information on this subject when googling.

Did you return your form by snail-mail or by fax or e-mail?

Personally I signed the pdf-document using my mouse, and sent it back via e-mail to iTStax@apple.com.

So now what? Do we wait until we get a verification by mail, or do we keep on checking in to iTunes to see if our contract has been activated before publishing our apps? Ive got mine ready, so Im anxious to get it out :)

You can submit apps before the contract is approved. They just won't go live until the contract is ready.

It does take quite a while to get your contracts done even after Apple have all the forms.

Damn, didn't know you could do that! Is that definitely an ok way to do it? I've sent it via snail-mail (airmail).

I wish you could talk to the tax people via phone, I've heard that they're awful at responding to emails.

Also, to save me creating a new thread, does anyone know how long the 'free' contract should take to become completed? It's been a few days now, you would've thought it could have been pretty instant?

So anything between 10 days and 3 weeks then. A bit on the hefty side, but I guess we have no other choice but to wait :p

Locker: the free apps-contract was in effect from the very start for me.

Btw, should we go ahead and click on "Request Amendment" and Submit?

Yes, doing so will take you to another page that shows you the actual amendment to the paid dev agreement, which you can read and presumably accept.
